Non-financial risks

Enea Group’s corporate risks3) include non-financial risks linked with the potential negative impact in the Employee-related, social, environmental and anti-corruption areas.

3) According to the definition used in the regulations on the ERM process, risks are deemed to be corporate risks if the probability of their materialising is assessed as greater than 10 percent.

  • reminders of measures required in accordance with the established rules of complaint circulation,
  • reminders that the media contacts are handled by Enea’s spokespersons,
  • permanent information banner in the Knowledge Base and EC Bulletin,

Risk of improper management of hazardous waste
  • verification of potential waste consignees to conclude contracts on hazardous waste management with entities that hold competencies necessary for the final waste treatment.
Risk of biomass fire
  • maintenance of technical infrastructure – ensuring the operational readiness of equipment and
  • installations protecting people and infrastructure,
  • strict observance of approved procedures and instructions,
  • regular training of Employees, raising the awareness of potential risks,
  • fire safety inspections of the biomass stored in outdoor yards,
  • monitoring biomass windrows with thermal imaging cameras.
Risk of spontaneous combustion of coal due to oxidation, or ignition of coal dust caused by high temperature
  • measurement of coal temperature in storage yards,
  • replacement of coal with longer storage time in storage yards,
  • compacting heaped coal layers on storage yards and the slopes on side yards.
Risk of limitation of electricity generation from bituminous coal due the radical reduction of atmospheric emissions of pollution planned by the European Commission
  • lobbying the European Commission for a change/ relaxation of the current climate policy,
  • development and implementation of a CO2 emissions reduction concept,
  • searching for technologies aimed to reduce the levels of CO2 and other pollutants in flue gases.
