We support initiatives promoting broadly understood sustainability and corporate social responsibility:

  • Partnership for achieving Sustainable Development Goals in Poland,
  • Responsible Business Forum (LW Bogdanka as a strategic partner),
  • GÓRNICTWO OK Joint Social Initiative Group,
  • Economic Security of Poland Consortium,
  • Charter of Effective Transformation of Distribution Grids of the Polish Energy System (since 2022),
  • Partnership for the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals in Poland (LW Bogdanka as a member).

An important baseline for our operations are UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The Enea Group has been awarded the 2023 POLITYKA CSR White Leaf in a prestigious ESG ranking organised by the Polityka weekly. This is evidence of the significance of our environmental efforts, broadly understood social initiatives and adherence to corporate governance. We have also been awarded for our support for Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees. In 2023, we continued our collaboration with United Nations Association Poland (UNAP), engaging in sustainable development goal education.

The Enea Group has committed to reach the following UN Sustainable Development Goals:

Target 3.9. By 2030, substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and contamination.

Target 4.4. By 2030, substantially increase the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs and entrepreneurship.

Target 7.1. By 2030, ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services.

Target 7.2. By 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.

Target 8.2. Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including through a focus on high-value added and labour-intensive sectors.

Target 8.8. Protect labour rights and promote safe and secure working environments for all workers, including migrant workers, in particular women migrants, and those in precarious employment.

Target 9.1. Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and transborder infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all.

Target 9.4. By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities.

Target 9.5. Enhance scientific research, upgrade the technological capabilities of industrial sectors in all countries, in particular developing countries, including, by 2030, encouraging innovation and substantially increasing the number of research and development workers per 1 million people and public and private research and development spending.

Target 11.6. By 2030, reduce the adverse per capita environmental impact of cities, including by paying special attention to air quality and municipal and other waste management.

Target 12.5. By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.

Target 13.3. Improve education, awareness-raising and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning.

Target 14.1. By 2025, prevent and significantly reduce marine pollution of all kinds, in particular from land-based activities, including marine debris and nutrient pollution.

Target 17.16. Enhance the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development, complemented by multi-stakeholder partnerships that mobilize and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in all countries, in particular developing countries.

The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, which are embedded in the management of our organisation, define our organisational culture and relations with stakeholders:
  • Principle 1. Supporting and respecting the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.
  • Principle 2. Eliminating all forms of human rights abuses.
  • Principle 3. Upholding the freedom of association.
  • Principle 4. Eliminating all forms of forced and compulsory labour.
  • Principle 5. Effective abolition of child labour.
  • Principle 6. Eliminating discrimination in employment and occupation.
  • Principle 7. Precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
  • Principle 8. Undertaking initiatives to promote environmental responsibility.
  • Principle 9. Encouraging the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
  • Principle 10. Working against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

Membership associations

For many years we have been supporting the work of major national and international industry organisations that support the sustainable development efforts. These include:

  • Polish Chamber of Power Industry and Environmental Protection (membership since 2015),
  • Polish Electricity Association (membership since 2013),
  • Wielkopolska Chamber of Commerce and Industry (membership since 2010),
  • Polish Committee of the World Energy Council (membership since 2014),
  • Energy Trading Association (membership since 2007),
  • United Nation Global Compact (participant since 2011),
  • Association of Polish Power Sector Employers (membership since 2019),
  • Polish Association of Listed Companies (membership since 2008/2009),
  • Polish National Foundation (membership since 2016),
  • Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers (membership since 2022),
  • Polish ESG Association (LW Bogdanka as a member).

GOOD PRACTICE

In 2023, Enea joined Poland Chamber of Commerce – Wielkopolska Economic Chamber. The Chamber supports the development of its members, acts for establishing and maintaining favourable conditions for economic growth and helps its members carry out their economic initiatives, represents them and protects their economic interests. It is also involved in connecting businesses, business supporting institutions, academics, educational and research institutions.
